Flames Burst From Manhattan Manhole

Manhole explosions caused public confusion and disruption to train operations in the Hells Kitchen district of Manhattan, New York, on February 16.

A number of explosions were heard in the area, local media reported.

Police arrived on scene to corner off streets and conduct investigations.

This footage shows a fire bursting from a manhole in the area.

The New York City Subway reported trains were prevented from stopping at 50th Street due to an active NYPD investigation involving a manhole explosion in the area.

After emergency services attended to the incident, trains resumed operations at 50th Street.
