'Good Luck, Thomas Cook!': With Company Approaching Insolvency, Passengers Send Good Wishes

4 年前

Passengers aboard a Thomas Cook flight to Birmingham on Saturday, September 21, took time to send the staff of the beleaguered company their good wishes as what would prove fruitless talks to avert the company’s collapse continued.

The failure to secure a bailout meant the company, founded in 1841, ceased trading on Monday morning, September 23.

Tina Scoffham, a cabin manager with Thomas Cook, took this video as holidaymakers returned from Mallorca. She said on Facebook: “We have just done the most wonderful and positive flight I have ever done! Our passengers were full of concern for our company and our crew! They were hugging us and crying as they left the aircraft, every single one of them!”

Thomas Cook’s collapse left hundreds of thousands of passengers stranded, while 20,000 people faced losing their jobs.

“I was blown away by the overwhelming response and encouraging positive comments from not only my friends but the public,” Scoffham told Storyful. “I, like all my colleagues, thought we would be saved in the final hour. The airline is an extremely profitable part of the company, I still have hope.” Credit: Tina Scoffham via Storyful
