Industrious Platypus Forages for Food at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, Canberra

5 年前

Volunteer David Rees was lucky enough to observe a duck-billed platypus at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve near Canberra, Australia.

Rees captured this video of the animal, which he described as “probably a youngish” platypus, “going about its business of finding food on a cold winter’s day”. The platypus can be seen swimming and moving about the area, poking its bill around half-submerged plant life.

It’s normally rare to see a platypus during the day, due to the creature’s shyness, but the animals at the reserve have become accustomed to some visitors, according to Rees. Credit: vimeo.com/thegreeneye via Storyful
