Injured Hiker Rescued After 25-Foot Fall in Albuquerque Foothills

An injured hiker was airlifted to hospital following a 25 foot fall in Albuquerque’s foothills on February 17, local media reported.

Lieutenant Tom Ruiz, the public information officer for Albuquerque Fire Rescue, said a 911 call was received around 11:45am local time. Fire rescue arrived at the scene after half an hour, finding the man with two broken legs and a back injury. The man was airlifted to hospital by a Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office helicopter.

The police department and Albuquerque Mountain rescue also participated in the rescue, Lieutenant Ruiz said. He added that the agencies that participated in the rescue are well trained, highly utilized, and “super good at their jobs.” Credit: Bernalillo County Fire Department via Storyful
