A Western Australia woman caught a glimpse of a small whirlpool in action near Port Hedland on Friday, March 22, as approaching Cyclone Veronica brought changes to the winds and tides along the Pilbara coastline.

Cyclone Veronica delivered intense conditions to the Pilbara coast over the following days, bringing destructive winds, intense rainfall and large storm surges.

On Saturday, the Bureau of Meteorology reported tide levels 1.5 meters above normal levels at Port Hedland, which was subject to the most severe effects of the approaching storm.
