A mountain biker in Eden, Utah, used a helmet camera to capture close-up footage showing vibrant fall colors in the region, sharing the results to YouTube on September 24.

This video, shot by Utah native Justin McFarland, shows his bike journey through the wooded areas of Eden, which is located in Weber County.

Speaking to Storyful, McFarland said, “The mountain forests have a beautiful carpet of multicolored leaves. At times it is difficult to see the actual trail because everything has the same covering, and that only adds to the excitement while mountain biking.”

He added, “With the cooler temperatures and gorgeous colors, this is the best season all year to be on the trails.”

Fall leaves in northern Utah often reach their peak colors at the end of September and the beginning of October, according to local reports citing US Forest Service public affairs specialist Kathy Jo Pollock.

The coloring of the leaves can be affected by “stressful conditions,” Pollock said, including a lack of rainfall. Weber County is currently experiencing severe drought, according to the National Drought Mitigation Center. Credit: Justin McFarland via Storyful
