Workers at a West Australian iron ore mining camp spotted a dramatic red dust devil approaching their site in Mount Sheila recently.

Kirsti Jeggo posted footage of the whirlwind on Facebook, where she quipped: “Whether I’m at work or home… life’s a bit like this at the moment.”

“It was just random,” she told Storyful. “I was taking rubbish out to a skip and saw it start and just pulled my phone out so I could show my children and it just kept getting stronger and higher.”

The dust devil was short-lived; Jeggo told Storyful “it disappeared as quickly as it started.” She added, “They happen all the time in this area but a lot smaller. This was the biggest I’ve seen.” Credit: Kirsti Jeggo via Storyful
