Residents in Florida and Alabama shared video showing sea smoke over the Gulf of Mexico as temperatures dropped close to freezing on Wednesday, January 17.

The phenomenon caused by cold air rolling over warm water is a common sight on the Great Lakes in winter but is rarely seen on the Gulf of Mexico.
