Christen Kiefert received a scary surprise when she went to use a bathroom in her apartment in Middle Valley, Tennessee, on July 11.

According to local media, when Kiefert lifted the toilet seat, she saw a snake curled up in the center of the toilet with its head sticking out of the water.

She called her apartment’s management, the news report said, and posted a video and photograph on her Facebook page, writing, “Y’all I can’t make this up, a dang snake was in my toilet… I’m terrified.”

Kiefert told Storyful on July 16 that she’d been given an all-clear of sorts: “Maintenance and pest control came out, they contacted animal control, and they said it’s either dead or in between my and my neighbor’s house. But they said it can’t stay underwater for long so it probably has got out somehow.”
