Steve Bannon Appearance at Oxford University Sparks Protest

A large crowd gathered at Oxford University, England, on November 16, to protest the appearance of right-wing US political strategist Steve Bannon at the university’s prestigious debating society, the Oxford Union.

Footage here shows the crowd gathered in a street close to the union, chanting: “Say it loud, say it clear, Bannon is not welcome here.”

The debating society describes itself on Twitter as “the last bastion of free speech.”

Bannon isn’t the first right-wing populist that the Union has invited to speak. Tommy Robinson, founder and former leader of the English Defence League, spoke at the venue in 2014.
