Passengers on the Tyne and Wear Metro in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, were treated to the unusual sight of a horse riding a train on Thursday, April 18.

Digby, a miniature horse that will helps visually-impaired people, traveled on the Tyne and Wear Metro to help prepare for his new life with a partially-sighted woman, Helena Hird, in London.

According to the Tyne and Wear Metro, Hird wanted a guide horse to help her, rather than a guide dog, because horses live for much longer.

Digby rode 10 stops on the train, both overground and underground, in order to become familiar with trains and stations,’ since he’ll be riding the London Underground regularly.
