Wildfire 'Explodes' Into Major Blaze North of Fairbanks, Alaska

Firefighters fought to contain a wildfire burning north of Fairbanks, Alaska, on June 15.

The so-called Haystack Fire, which was started by a lightning strike on Monday afternoon, had grown to at least 400 acres by Tuesday afternoon but was expected to spread.

“Haystack Fire north of Fairbanks explodes into major wildfire”, the Alaska Division of Forestry wrote in a post to Alaska Fire Info.
