In a scene straight out of the Hollywood blockbuster ‘Love Actually’, a young woman stood outside her quarantined friend’s house and held up messages of hope and love, in Ontario, Canada, on March 26.

Abby Caldwell had been travelling through South America but the coronavirus outbreak forced her to cut her trip short by six weeks. Caldwell’s friend, Isabel Reid, knew she could not give her disappointed friend a hug upon her return — so she decided to cheer her up by re-enacting the famous movie moment.

“I’m so sorry your trip was cut short…” the first card reads, “but I’m happy you’re home.”

“A day after flying back from Colombia amid flight cancellations and covid-19 border closures, my best friend showed up at my house to cheer me up, at a safe distance of course. The smallest acts of kindest have the greatest impact,” Caldwell posted on Twitter.
