Fawn Fire Threatens 9,000 Structures in Shasta County, California

The Fawn Fire, burning in California’s Shasta County grew to over 9 square miles (5,850 acres) with 10 percent containment on Friday, September 24, threatening more than 9,000 structures, officials said.

According to Cal Fire, the fire already destroyed 25 structures. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office issued multiple evacuation orders and warnings on September 23.

Local news outlets reported that a woman was arrested on suspicion of starting the fire on September 22.
