The New South Wales Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) issued an emergency warning for a bushfire at Drake, on Monday, September 16.

The fire, which had burned through over 57,800 hectares of bushland, escalated on Monday afternoon.

“There is increased fire activity on the northern side of the fire around the township of Drake, Red Rock Road and Rover Park,” the NSW RFS said in an alert.

“Residents in the areas of Drake, Red Rock Road and Rover Park should take shelter as the fire approaches. Protect yourself from the heat of the fire.”
