Lava and Ash Block Road After Volcanic Eruption in La Palma

At least 200 homes were destroyed in La Palma, Spain, as of September 21, after a volcano erupted the weekend prior, Telecinco reported.

This footage, posted by the firefighters Bomberos Gran Canaria on Twitter, shows lava blocking a road. The firefighters said the footage was taken in Todoque.

The Cumbre Vieja volcano’s eruption was reported around 3:30 pm local time on Sunday. Multiple government agencies responded, including the Canary Islands Volcanology Institute (Involcan), the local council, civil protection units, firefighters, and police.
