Manhattan Residents Take to Their Balconies to Applaud Healthcare Workers

New Yorkers took to their windows and balconies on the evening of March 27 to applaud first responders tackling the coronavirus (COVID-19) in America’s worst hit city.

This video was taken by Christina Park from the terrace of her apartment in Manhattan, which overlooks Central Park. Similar scenes were recorded across the five boroughs.

As of the afternoon of March 27, New York City had over 26,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases. At that time, at least 450 people in the city had died as a result of complications from the virus. Credit: Christina Park via Storyful
