Demonstrations continued over the weekend of May 29 to 31 in Washington, DC, as large crowds of people protesting police brutality and the death of George Floyd were met with tear gas, according to reports.

Jay Orentas recorded this footage and told Storyful capturing the video caused him physical pain as he and other protesters were shot at with rubber bullets and stun grenades. In the footage a person can be seen holding up an open umbrella in front of a line of police officers, while popping can be heard.

Orentas told Storyful he grabbed canisters from the scene as evidence of tear gas being used. Photos of material left by police can be seen on his Twitter page.

Orentas posted the second half of the video with a caption explaining that he and an ABC 7 news reporter were being tear-gassed. Clouds of gas can be seen in the footage.

“Cops shooting gas canisters into random people, good thing we had medics on hand. Me and someone from @ABC7News got gassed pretty badly here,” the caption said. Credit: Jay Orentas via Storyful
