Rescued Squirrel Monkey Takes a Nap in Carer's Shirt Pocket

Much-traveled wildlife enthusiast Natalia Cara was at a wildlife sanctuary in Iquitos, Peru, when she captured this adorable footage of a rescued squirrel monkey falling asleep in a sanctuary worker’s shirt pocket.

Cara told Storyful the young squirrel monkey had to be rescued from the illegal pet trade. It’s “very tame,” she said, but “particularly loves this caretaker.”

Cara said that the monkey had earlier escaped from her enclosure at the sanctuary for a few hours, but the carers caught up with her. “You can see her behaving like a real baby, and just wanting to cuddle,” she said. “Except that she is so tiny that she can curl up in a shirt pocket. How could anyone stay mad at a creature this adorable?” Credit: Natalia Cara via Storyful
