Snap Happy: Bear Bite Breaks Camera in Russian National Park

5 年前

A curious Himalayan bear bit onto and broke a camera in the Land of the Leopard National Park near Vladivostok, Russia, in early June, according to park officials.

Footage captured by the camera shows the bear scratching its back against a tree before approaching the camera, sniffing and clawing at it, and then wrapping its jaws around it seconds before the video cuts.

The park includes more than 400 cameras used for monitoring the Far Eastern leopard, also known as the Amur leopard, officials said. When an animal crosses in front of a camera, the camera starts recording.

The park jokingly suggested that the bear was trying to cover up “compromising evidence” of its “dance” with the tree, but said the furry “vandal” failed to destroy the camera’s memory card. Credit: Land of the Leopard National Park via Storyful
