A makeshift hospital in Birmingham, England, was seen under construction on April 8 as the number of cases of the coronavirus nationwide reached 60,733 people.

According to the BBC, the hospital, built inside Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre, would initially have 500 beds, but once complete would accommodate 4,000 beds.

Dr David Rosser, cited by local media reports, said: “We would all prefer that these beds – just like the extra beds the NHS has freed up across the region – are needed as little as possible, and so we would continue to urge members of the public to stay at home to help the NHS and save lives.”
