Tornado Damages Buildings, Cuts Power to Thousands in Dallas

A tornado that touched down in north Dallas, Texas, damaged buildings and cut power to thousands on Sunday, October 20, local media reported.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said a tornado was confirmed in northern Dallas and urged residents to take shelter Sunday night. The NWS placed cities across northern and central Texas under tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings.

As of 2 am on Monday, about 95,000 people in northern Texas were without power, local media reported.

Local media said police were searching impacted neighborhoods for people trapped in damaged buildings.

This video, taken in Fate, Texas, shows a dark funnel shape in the distance. In the video, a woman can be heard saying, “That is definitely coming toward us. Can we please go inside?”
