Wales Rugby Fans Sing in Packed Japan Shopping Street

Welsh rugby fans entertained onlookers in a packed Japanese shopping street with a rendition of the Tom Jones hit ‘Delilah’ on October 13.

The large group, many of whom were draped in their national flags, delivered the impromptu performance in the southern city of Kumamoto. The song has been used as an unofficial Welsh rugby anthem for many years.

Earlier that night, the Wales side had triumphed in its World Cup match against Uruguay, passing undefeated into the tournament’s quarter-finals.

The Sunday match went ahead despite several other weekend fixtures being cancelled due to the expected impact of Typhoon Hagibis. Credit: eliotbay1225 via Storyful
