Applause as Shinzo Abe's Hearse Passes Crowds in Tokyo

Mourners gathered in Tokyo on July 12, as the funeral for former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was held at Zojo-ji Temple.

Footage posted to Twitter shows people applauding for the country’s longest-serving leader as his hearse drives by.

According to NHK, a private funeral took place at Zojo-ji Temple and a convoy drove Abe’s remains past the prime minister’s office and Liberal Democratic Party headquarters. His body was due to be cremated at Kirigaya Funeral Hall.
