Black Smoke Rises Out of Ethanol Fuel Facility Explosion in Suburbs of Portland, Oregon

Emergency crews responded to a three-alarm fire at an ethanol fuel facility that prompted evacuations and caused traffic delays in Cornelius, Oregon, on March 16.

Footage recorded by Twitter user @TwelveInOregon shows employees heading to the back of the building to retrieve their cars, they wrote in a tweet.

Cornelius Fire Department and Oregon State Fire Marshal’s hazardous materials team reported to the scene as people were advised to avoid the area.

Approximately 80 homes were evacuated during the fire, which was expected to be a long duration event lasting until at least 7 pm, local media reported.
