Branch Fire in Southern California Forces Evacuations, Road Closures

A vegetation fire that broke out in San Luis Obispo County, California, on Tuesday, July 28, has closed roads and prompted evacuations, officials said.

The Branch Fire was about 2,500-3,000 acres as of Tuesday night, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE). Officials said on Tuesday that the fire had reached 30 percent containment.
