Bushfire Breaks Out Near Australia Versus New Zealand Test in Perth

A bushfire broke out near Optus Stadium in Perth on December 13, as fans gathered for the second day’s play in the Australia and New Zealand Test.

The fire started next to Belmont Park Racecourse, which is near the Burswood venue, just before midday on Friday. Perth Now reported that the fire was moving in a westerly direction at 500 metres an hour.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said the Burswood fire did not pose a threat to lives or homes. “Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes,” it said. Credit: Brett H via Storyful
