“Very heavy rain” that moved through Arizona’s West Valley caused flooding in Phoenix on Wednesday, November 20, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

The NWS issued a Flood Advisory for the Phoenix metropolitan area and surrounding cities on Wednesday morning. The advisory warned of running washes and minor flooding in shallow areas. It also advised people not to drive through floodwater.

Some drivers in Phoenix decided to navigate through several inches of water that collected near the underpass at Interstate 17 and Greenway Road. This video, filmed by Phoenix resident Hector Bravo Jr, shows cars driving through the floodwater, creating waves on the roadway.

Local media reported on the flooding shown in this video and said police were directing drivers away from the flooded area. Credit: Hector Bravo Jr via Storyful
