Cleanup Begins After Destructive Tornado Rips Through Western Georgia

An EF-3 tornado ripped through western Georgia on Sunday, March 26, downing trees and destroying homes.

Footage recorded by Shane Shifflett on March 29 shows areas damaged by the storm, along with crews working to clean up debris the destructive tornado left in its wake.

According to local news reports, five people were injured, and more than 100 structures were damaged, with 30 to 40 destroyed.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp issued a state of emergency ordering, in part, “that all resources of the state of Georgia be made available to assist in preparation, response, and recovery activities throughout the affected areas.” Credit: Shane Shifflett via Storyful
