Coney Island’s famous Parachute Jump tower was lit in the purple and gold colors of the LA Lakers on January 27, in tribute to Kobe Bryant, who died with his 13-year-old daughter and seven other people in a helicopter crash on January 26.

Elsewhere in New York City, the Bryant Park subway station was “renamed” in a tribute to the star. Other tributes included a public mourning outside the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The helicopter crash was under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board, and the FBI, the Los Angeles Times reported. Credit: Boo Boo Media via Storyful
