Crowd Cheers as Loose Cat Evades Capture During Yankees Game

An elusive cat amused baseball fans attending a New York Yankees vs Baltimore Orioles game at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx on August 2.

Cameron Toh recorded this footage and posted it to his Twitter page under the handle @SROBaseball.

Toh told Storyful he had a good view of the field from the nosebleed section and noticed the cat lurking around the third base dugout during the bottom of the eighth inning.

“The game itself was quite lousy so we were happy that the cat was able to provide the best entertainment of the night, and everyone around us seemed to have the same sentiment,” he said. “I think the MVP’ chants from the crowd speak for themselves.”

Toh estimates the cat was on the field for at least four minutes, and said the best part was that it took, “no fewer than seven stadium personnel to usher it off the field.”

He said he was also amused by how nimble the cat was, “at one point running straight through the legs of an usher.”

“Given the Yankees performance last night, we and the fans around us were joking that the team should sign the cat to play center field ASAP,” Toh said.
