Belarus police arrested dozens of women protesting in Minsk on Saturday, September 26, reports said.

Demonstrators have occupied the streets of Minsk since an August 9 presidential election that saw President Alexander Lukashenko win in a landslide. The results were denounced by opposition politicians who claimed the election was rigged, and the vote was criticized abroad. Many of Lukashenko’s opponents have since been forced to flee the country.

In the ensuing protests, women have taken an outsized role, facing off with riot police across the city. According to the AFP, 95 people, the majority women, were arrested during protests on Saturday in the Belarusian capital.
