New Evacuation Warnings as Dixie Fire Burns Over 819,000 Acres

Officials in Lassen County, California, issued new evacuation warnings as the Dixie Fire grew to over 819,000 acres on August 31.

This video, from an ALERTWildfire camera near Beckwourth in Plumas County, shows a timelapse of large plumes of smoke billowing from the fire on Tuesday.

The fire was at 49 percent containment and had destroyed 688 single residences as of Tuesday, Cal Fire said.

The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office said that in addition to the evacuation warnings announced on Tuesday, all previously issued orders and warnings remained in place. Credit: ALERTWildife via Storyful
