A family in Pennsylvania discovered there was a hive of bees hidden in their home after spotting dark stains they originally thought were a result of Tropical Storm Fay, but which turned out to be honey.

When Justin and Andrea Isabell of Bucks County investigated the strange trickles on their wall, Justin found they were “sticky” and had “a faintly sweet smell.”

He made a comic Facebook video after this discovery. “We noticed these streaks coming down our wall,” Justin says. “We could not figure out what it was. So, with a very careful lick – yup, that’s honey.”

The family called in a beekeeper, Allan Lattanzi from Yerkes Honey Farms in Collegeville, who said he was planning to take the colony to his home to produce honey.

“I have three boys and they were wondering if we could set a tap up so we could just pour honey on our yogurt and granola in the morning. I wish we could. I wish we could share it, but they need a better home where they’re safe and happy and not living with us,” Andrea told Action News. Credit: Justin Isabell via Storyful
