NSW Rural Fire Service monitored the North Black Range fire burning near Braidwood, New South Wales, Australia, from a helicopter on December 5.

The NSW RFS said the bushfire covered over 31,400 hectares (about 120 square miles) in Tallaganda National Park, Bombay, and Braidwood as of December 6.

The service said the fire is “spreading in multiple directions,” including to the northeast, toward Kings Highway and southeast into Elrington, but that it is being controlled and “conditions are easing.”

There were 100 fires burning across New South Wales as of 8 am local time December 6. Forty-three of the blazes were uncontained, the NSW RFS said. Credit: NSW Rural Fire Service via Storyful
