A group was spotted playing football on a Louisville, Kentucky, street on September 22 as the city braced for the state’s Attorney General to decide whether charges would be laid against the officers involved in the police killing of Breonna Taylor.

With vehicle access restricted for much of Louisville’s CBD in anticipation of the decision, streets were empty.

This footage shot by video journalist Brendan Gutenschwager shows the group running across a CBD street to catch a high ball.

Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) Interim Chief Robert Schroeder said on the Tuesday that police had no information about when Attorney General Daniel Cameron’s announcement would come, nor what his decision would be.

Six Louisville officers were under investigation for the death of Breonna Taylor, the 26-year-old emergency medical technician fatally shot in her home by LMPD in March 2020.

Officer Brett Hankison was fired on June 23 for his actions during the raid, and the City of Louisville agreed on September 15 to pay Taylor’s family $12 million and reform police practices as part of a settlement. Credit: Brendan Gutenschwager via Storyful
