Fort Wayne Zoo's Highly Relatable Orangutan Is Busy 'Perfecting Her Nesting Skills'

An orangutan at Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is definitely in step with these locked-down times: she’s been busy, like the rest of us, “perfecting her nesting skills”, the zoo said.

Video from the zoo shows five-year-old Asmara building a perfect spot in her enclosure. Asmara can be seeing carrying hay with her feet and swinging across to her new nesting site.

“Nesting is one of the most important skills a young orangutan can learn and they begin practicing at a young age. Asmara has been working on her skills since she was about a year old,” the zoo wrote on Facebook. Credit: Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo via Storyful
