The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service said on Monday, November 30, that aircraft were continuing to support more than 30 ground crews on Fraser Island as they worked to contain a fire burning for six weeks.

The fire had grown to 76,000 hectares by Monday, in conditions described by incident controller James Haig as “really challenging”.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service said the fire was near the Kingfisher Bay Resort, which closed on November 30 for at least two weeks. Another fire front was about two kilometers from the Cathedrals camping ground, the service said.
