The lead singer of American rock band Green Day told a London audience he would renounce his citizenship after the Supreme Court’s decision on Friday, June 24, to overturn Roe v Wade, the landmark 1973 decision that legalized abortion nationwide.

Speaking to a crowd of thousands at a packed London Stadium in Stratford, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said “F*** America! I’m f***ing renouncing my citizenship,” before calling the United States a “miserable f***ing excuse for a country.”

Armstrong’s remarks drew loud cheers and applause from the audience.

“Oh I’m not kidding. You’re going to get a lot of me in the coming days,” Armstrong added. Credit: Katherine Murphy via Storyful
