Honolulu Hotel Guests Sleep in Lobby During Shelter-In-Place After Report of Shots Fired

Guests at the Kahala Hotel & Resort in Honolulu were either sheltering in place or evacuated after reports an armed man barricaded himself in his room on April 10, according to local news reports.

Police told local media there had been reports of shots fired on the fourth floor, and when security staff went to investigate “the suspect shot through the door.”

Video footage shared on Instagram by Darcy Belaras shows him and another guest running inside the building after they spot an ambulance outside. The footage also shows law enforcement agents inside the building, as well as guests sleeping in the lobby. Belaras told Storyful the hotel was on “lockdown” by the time of writing.
