A rare black bobcat was spotted near Danville, Vermont, which are rarely seen in the state according to the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department and black colored ones even more unusual.

Footage of the black bobcat, also known as a melanistic bobcat, shows it nearing the camera. “Here kitty, kitty,” an onlooker says.

As of 2016, there were only 12 black bobcats reportedly documented in North America.

“Never thought it would walk up by us or be such a big deal,” Ben Patnoe, who filmed the footage, told Storyful.
