A large dark storm cloud swirled above Cleveland County in North Carolina on Thursday, May 26, amid tornado warnings across the region.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a hazardous weather warning for northeast Georgia, piedmont North Carolina and upstate South Carolina until Thursday night, and said showers with embedded thunderstorms would track across the region.

Strong to severe thunderstorms would bring damaging wind gusts and possible isolated tornados, the NWS said, with localized flooding also possible.
