A 70-year-old US Marine Corps veteran became emotional upon his release from a Long Island hospital on July 13, after a 110-day stay due to COVID-19.

This footage, by the Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, New York, shows Leonardo Gonzalez wheeled from the hospital to cheers from staff.

“They saved my life,” he said. “God bless the doctors, nurses, therapist and everyone at the hospital. Thank you for making me feel good again.”

Gonzales and his wife of 33 years, Delia, were admitted to the hospital on March 24 with COVID-19. Delia was released after 45 days and was there with two of the couple’s five children to pick her husband up after his recovery. Credit: Mercy Medical Center via Storyful
