Massachusetts Firefighters Rescue Deer Trapped in Frozen Reservoir

Firefighters in Ashland, Massachusetts, rescued a deer that fell through ice while moving across the frozen Ashland Reservoir on Sunday, January 19.

According to wickedlocal.com, the Ashland Fire Department received reports at around 8 am of a deer which had gotten stuck while crossing the reservoir.

Footage released by the fire department shows a firefighter, dressed in thermal gear, using a sled to wade out to the deer and bring it back to dry land.

The video shows the deer sprinting away after it was brought back to land.

“Early this morning we received a call for a deer in distress on the Ashland Reservoir,” the department wrote on Facebook. “Crews deployed the ice rescue sled making the rescue and released the deer.” Credit: Ashland Fire Department via Storyful
