NOAA Satellite Captures Wildfire Smoke Over Arizona

Satellite imagery showing wildfire smoke moving across Arizona was released on Tuesday, June 15, as firefighters continued to battle the Telegraph and Mescal fires.

NOAA Satellite and Information Service said its GOES West satellite captured this 12-hour timelapse on Monday that shows smoke plumes rising from the wildfires burning in southeastern Arizona.

Fire officials said the Telegraph Fire has burned more than 104,700 acres and was 68 percent contained as of Tuesday. The Mescal Fire was about 72,250 acres and 88 percent contained as of Tuesday. Credit: NOAA via Storyful
