Police in Gustine, California, said they were investigating reports of a physical altercation between a group attending a rally to show support for law enforcement and counter-protesters on Sunday, June 28.

This video shows a group who gathered to show support for law enforcement and first responders, and others who voiced support for the Black Lives Matter movement, according to local reports.

Alynne Castro, who captured the footage, told Storyful she and her two friends, Vivianna and Iran, turned up to show support for Black Lives Matter protesters, who were gathered on the opposite side of the street.

Castro said she and Vivianna drove past both groups and shouted “Black Lives Matter.” Castro shared footage showing her and her friends confronting some of those gathered at the rally for law enforcement and first responders.

The confrontation escalated to a heated exchange of words between both groups, video shows. Castro’s friend Iran arrived and the confrontation got physical, Castro said. The video shows Iran’s bloodied face. Pictures of Vivianna’s bruised face were provided to Storyful.

Police were called to the scene and the two groups were separated, but no arrests were made, local media reported. Police Lt. Sam Joseph told the Merced Sun-Star that a report was forwarded to the Merced County District Attorney’s Office.

City Manager Doug Dunford told Westside Connect news that there was "a lot of finger-pointing, so we have to figure out what was done. We weren’t there; we didn’t see it.”

Lt. Joseph said that authorities determined the anti-racism supporters crossed the street to confront the pro-law enforcement group, but the exact cause of the physical altercation from members of each group was still under investigation, according to the same reports.
