Sea smoke floated over the coast of Destin, Florida, on Wednesday, January 17, as temperatures dropped close to freezing. Residents in Florida and Alabama shared video showing the sea smoke over the Gulf of Mexico.

The phenomenon caused by cold air rolling over warm water is a common sight on the Great Lakes in winter but is rarely seen on the Gulf of Mexico.
