Footage recorded by local resident Prue Wheeler shows ominous clouds from a storm front as they move over a beach and bring rainfall to the area.

Writing on Instagram, Wheeler said “the sky has been putting on quite a show over the last 15 hours … starting with an incredible sunset last night, a full moon rising, a lightning storm, then this front.”

The Bureau of Meteorology, Western Australia said about 40,000 lightning strikes were recorded in in the state in one hour on Sunday, July 5. Credit: Prue Wheeler via Storyful
