World's Largest Helitanker Deployed Against Orange County's Bond Fire

The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) operated a 3,000 gallon capacity helitanker over the region scorched by the Bond Fire on Saturday, December 4, the OCFA said.

The CH-47 Chinook is the world’s largest hellitanker and has been used to combat the Bond Fire from the start, according to the OCFA.

Two forest service firefighters with the Cleveland National Forest were treated and released from the hospital on Thursday night.

The OCFA reported the Bond Fire had destroyed five structures and damaged another five.

The fire had reached 7,375 acres and was at 40-percent containment as of 8 am on Saturday, according to Cal Fire. Credit: Orange County Fire Authority via Storyful
