The cityscape of Wuhan was lit up after midnight on April 8 to celebrate the lifting of a 76-day lockdown on the city as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The light show, which lasted for a half hour, featured displays on buildings on both sides of the Yangtze River, according to local media.

This footage, posted to the Weibo page of the Wuhan Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau, shows some of the displays, which include phrases such as “Ni Hao, Wuhan” (Hello, Wuhan) and “Yingxiong de Chengshi” (City of Heroes).

The lockdown on the capital of Hubei province was put in place on January 23, preventing all inbound and outbound travel by road, rail and ferry in an attempt to contain the spread of the virus, later named COVID-19. Credit: Wuhan Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau via Storyful
